This easy dishtowel is a fun pattern that can be used during Valentine’s Day. It would also make a wonderful gift for Mother’s Day. I used Sugar’n’Cream but this pattern will work up fantastic with any kitchen cotton.

Materials
Cotton yarn
2 skeins for background color (B)
1 skein for heart color (H)
5.5 mm (I) hook
Scissors
Yarn needle
Sewing needle
Sewing thread
1 inch button
Abbreviations
sc – single crochet
hdc – half double crochet
dc – double crochet
dec – decrease
sp – space
st(s) – stitch(es)
ch – chain
sl st – slip stitch
Special Stitches
- Inc – ch 4, hdc in 3rd ch from hook, hdc in next ch, sl st to ch up of last block
- Dec – sl st on top of 2 hdc sts from last block of previous row, ch 2, hdc 2 times on ch up of last block of previous row
Notes
- This hand towel is completed using mini c2c. This is made in the same way as regular c2c, but you ch 1 less and place 2 hdc in each block instead of 3 dc sts.
- The color of the blocks will be referred to as B (background color) and H (heart color).
- The top part of the towel is not straight across. After you stop consistently increasing, it will say whether to make an increase or decrease block at the beginning of each row. I recommend counting the blocks every row to make sure it matches the pattern.

- 20. 3 B, 10 H, 6 B (19 blocks) You will create a corner block for the top in this row. It is the end of consistent increasing on the side.
The top will not be straight across. The instructions will say whether you will create an inc or a dec block to start the row off.

- 37. Dec block in B, 3 B (4 blocks)
Again in the next row, you will place sl sts around the area where you usually would place your first block.
- 38. Using B, Sl st on top of 2 hdc sts of last block in previous row, sl st 2 times on ch up of same block, sl st on top of 2 hdcs of next block, ch 2, hdc 2 times in ch up of same block, 1 B (2 blocks)
Fasten off.
Strip to Hang Towel
Entire section made in color B. Every row except for the last two will have 3 blocks in it.
1. Sl st to the ch up of the 3rd block made in row 34, ch 2, hdc 2 times on ch up, 2 B
2. Inc block in B, 2 B
3. Dec block in B, 2 B
4. Inc block in B, 2 B
5. Dec block in B, 2 B
6. Inc block in B, 2 B
7. Dec block in B, 1 B
8. Dec block in B, sl st across hdc sts, ch 1, turn, sc in last sl st made at the top, ch 3, sc at the end of 1 st block made in row 6, sl st along side of same block, Fasten off.
Attach button in area below the start of the flap to hang the towel.
