This sweater is easy to make and works up quickly. I wrote the pattern so you can customize it according to your measurements and using any yarn you would like. I used Mirafil Bella Cotton which has a beautiful color transition throughout the skein. It makes the yarn look beautiful just from the colors.

Notes
- This pattern is designed so you can customize it to your measurements and choose whichever weight yarn you would like to use. You will need a top that you like the way it fits.
- The first row you make should be as wide as the top plus about 2 inches on either side. You will also need the amount of stitches in the first row to be a multiple of 3 plus 1. This may make your row wider than your top. It is up to you if you want to go smaller or larger at that point. Just remember you will loose some of that width when you sew the front and back pieces together.
- After making row two, measure it against your top again to make sure it is still the width you would like. If you have a fairly tight tension, then your v sts will cause your width to shrink. If it is not the width you would like, place your ruler on your v sts. Count how many v sts are in however many inches you would like to add. For every v st add 3 more foundation double crochet stitches.
- If you would like to make a stripped version, switch colors every time you get to row 4.
Let’s Get Started!
- Make FDDC in a multiple of 3 plus 1. Should be about two inches wider on either side on your favorite top. Read notes to find out more about your initial row.
- Ch 3, turn, sk 1 st, (dc, ch 1, dc) in next st, (sk 2 sts, (dc, ch 1, dc) in next st, repeat across until 5 sts remain, sk 2 sts, (dc, ch 1, dc) in next st, sk 1 st, dc in last st
- Ch 3, turn, [(dc, ch 1, dc) in ch 1 space] repeat across, dc in ch up
- Ch 3, turn, [(dc, ch 1, dc in ch 1 space] repeat across, dc in ch up
- Ch 3, turn, [(dc, ch 1, dc in ch 1 space] repeat across, dc in ch up
- Ch 3, turn, dc in st st, (dc in next dc, dc in ch 1 sp, dc in next dc) repeat across
Back Section: Repeat rows 2 through 6 until it reaches the length you would like it to be.
Front Section: Repeat rows 2 through 6 until you are 5 rows less than the back section. Do not fasten off yet. Measure the width of your neck from collar bone to collar bone. Place your measuring tape on the top of your v sts. Count how many v sts are in that same measurement you got for your neck. Next you will want to find that many v sts in the center of your front piece and place a stitch marker in the first and last v sts. For example if it is 7 v sts for your neck and you have 17 v sts in your row, then skip the first 5 v sts, place a stitch marker in the next v st, sk 5 v sts, place a stitch marker in the next v st, and then there would be 5 v sts on the other side. Make sure you have an event amount of v sts on either side.
- Pick up your working loop, ch up 3, turn (dc, ch 1, dc) in each ch 1 sp until you reach the last v st before your stitch marker
- Ch 3, turn, sk 1st ch 1 sp, (dc, ch 1, dc) in 2nd v sts, (dc ch 1, dc) in each ch 1 sp, dc in ch up of previous row
- Ch 3, turn, dc across until 6 sts remain, dc dec 3 times
- Ch 3, turn, sk 1 st, [(dc, ch 1, dc) in next st, sk 2 sts] repeat across, dc at the end
- Ch 3, turn, (dc, ch 1, dc) in each ch 1 sp skipping the last ch 1 sp, dc in end dc of last v st
Line up the front section with the back piece. Both pieces should be on their wrong side. Sl st across to attatch the two sides. Attatch your yarn to the other end of the front section and repeat what you just did and attach it the same way.
Armholes
- Sl st to armhole in the armpit section. Ch 2, Looking at every sp make by your stitches, sk 1 sp, [(dc, ch 1, dc) in next sp, sk 2 sps] repeat around until 2 sps remain, (dc, ch 1, dc) in next sp, sl st to beginning ch up
- Ch 3, turn, (dc, ch 1, dc) in each ch 1 sp around, sl st to beginning ch
- Ch 3, turn, dc in each dc and dc in each ch 1 sp around, sl st to beginning
- Ch 3, turn, sk 1 st, [(dc, ch 1, dc) in next st, sk 2 sts] repeat until 2 sts remain, (dc, ch 1, dc in next st, sl st to beginning
- Ch 3, turn, [(dc, ch 1, dc) in next st, sk 2 sts] repeat until 2 sts remain, (dc, ch 1, dc in next st, sl st to beginning
Repeat the pattern until the sleeves are the length you would like.
Neck hole edging
Single crochet around neck hole placing a decrease in the corners of front neck line and placing a decrease where the front and back piece were sewn together.
